Review in the Advertiser

Every Sunday Night at Seven is now in it's final weekend. This is both a happy and a sad time for me. It has been a truly wonderful experience to work with this very talented group of people. I have seen cast members of all ages bonding which is really a neat thing to observe. I have also seen tremendous growth in confidence and stage presence in cast members. If you haven't come to see the show you should really try to make it there tonight or tomorrow night.

There is a review of the show in the Lafayette Daily Advertiser today. Here is a link to read the review online:

Hope to see you all this weekend!

Opening Night

I hope that everyone in the cast of Every Sunday Night at Seven had as much fun as I did last night. What a blast! One audience member told me afterwards "you were all really rocking tonight." That really expressed how the performance felt to me, rocking and rolling.

Opening Night is Here!

It's finally here! Opening night. This is so exciting! The picture to the left shows Laura Blum, Shai Simon and Sandy Landry waiting for Mr. Sandman to bring them their dream.

Our cast of 17 has done an outstanding job of bringing the 1950's back to life. What a fun time for music. From the sultry jazz of the era to Willie Nelson's Crazy to Rock and Roll the 50's had it all. Every Sunday Night at Seven will take you down memory lane or maybe create new memories.

To the right are our "teeny boopers" Meridith Bellonie, Sarah Palmintier, Taylor Massey and Juliana Barton. They look like they just stepped out of a sock hop!
Head back to the 50's with us October 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 at 7p.m. and October 11 at 3p.m. You're sure to have a blast! For information or tickets call 857-6991 or visit our website at

Fall Classes Going Strong

Classes at Firelight are off to a great start! There are children and adults working all over the building. I am excited to say that we are working on 5 productions there at one time. That, to me, is amazing.

The first production will be "Every Sunday Night at Seven" which is a musical celebration of the 1950's. Join us for an evening of 50's songs and fun. The show runs October 8, 9, and 10 and 15, 16 and 17 at seven (of course). Tickets are available on the website

www.firelightenterprises.com

or by calling (337) 962-0306

Hope to see you all there.

Kick Off

Things are beginning to be busy at the Firelight Performing Arts Academy. We are in rehearsal for our first full length adult show there, Every Sunday Night at Seven. The show will feature 9 adult cast members and 8 of the older Firelight students. The music is all from the 1950's and is loads of fun.

The fall fling is just a few days away. I can't wait to see everyone and hear them sing-a-long to high school musical. We will also have an improv workshop preview so that everyone can find out what improv is all about leading up to the Sept. 12 and 13 improv workshops.

Classes begin on Aug. 31. I am looking forward to a great year! See you all soon.

Fall Fling Updates

Good Morning!

We are getting very excited about the Firelight Fall Fling. I have no doubt that it will be a blast! After careful consideration (and a conversation with my 6 year old granddaughter Emily in Tennessee) I have extended the age to ages 6 and up. I hope to see all of you there so that we can play together before we get down to work.

Registration is still going on so if you know anyone who would like to become a part of what we do at Firelight (from music lessons to theatre classes) have them give me a call.

Don't forget the improv workshop on September 12 and 13. Elaine and Ryan (our improv workshop leaders) are planning to stop by the Fall Fling and give us a taste of what is in store for those of you who are not quite sure what improv is all about.

We have begin rehearsals for Every Sunday Night at Seven and I can assure you it is going to be a show you don't want to miss!!! It is in October and more info will be posted about that soon.

Have a great day and an even better weekend. See you all next week.

Firelight Fall Fling

As our opening date for the fall draws near I have been thinking that it would be fun to kick things off with a bang this year. On August 28, 2009 we will hold our first Firleight Fall Fling.

The Firelight Fall Fling will be a night of fun for all of the Firelight students and their friends ages 8 and up. We will begin the event at 6:30p.m. with theatre games. After the games we will show the sing-a-long version of High School Musical. If you were at the summer cast party you know that this will be a lot of fun for the Firelight group. Pick-up will be at 10p.m.

Parents are welcome of course, but can also use this as a "parents night out" evening. Admission for the event is $10.00 per child. The concession stand will be open and we will add hot dogs to the menu that evening.

Reservations are not required but are recommended as we have had so many people at everything we have done since opening in Youngsville. To make reservations email me at laura@firelightenterprises.com

Cleanest Dressing Room Winners

During Pinocchio rehearsals and performance we held a contest to see which dressing room would stay the cleanest. The boys won hands down! Here is a picture of them in that dressing room. It gave them great pleasure to beat the girls at cleaning. I have never directed or acted in a show with cleaner dressing rooms!

Improv Workshop

Good Morning! I've been at work here since about 6a.m. and feel that I have accomplished much. You can now check out the upcoming Improv Workshop on the web at

www.firelightenterprises.com/ImprovWorkshop.html

You can register for the workshop and find out more info about the event. There are bio's of the workshop facilitators Elaine Kibodeaux and Ryan Broussard there along with an online box office if you want to buy tickets to see the performances!

Every Sunday Night at Seven

We had our first rehearsal for our upcoming variety show "Every Sunday Night at Seven". What a fun, talented bunch of people. I look forward to being a part of the show. All of the music is from the 1950's so will be well known (at least by the "older" crowd.)

In the morning I plan to up-date the Firelight website and ad a page about our upcoming Improv Workshops on September 12 and 13. I'll add info here as well when I have the page all finished.

Getting Started

It would seem that practically everyone else in the world is now blogging so I've decided to join the fun. This is my first blogpost. At this point my intention is to post several times a week and keep all parents and students of Firelight up to date on what is happening at the Academy as well as in the local arts community.

Registration for this year's classes is in full swing. It is a very exciting time for me. I look at the forms and wonder how much children have grown over the summer or what a new student might be like. Students are registering for theatre classes, broadway-style singing, guitar class and private music lessons. I am beginning to wonder how I will have the time to teach all of them! If you haven't registered yet be sure to do that soon as classes and lesson slots are filling up fast.

I'm going to "launch" this rocket now and see where it goes. I'll write more later.
